The Journey West was a temporary travel office operating out of a storefront on the plaza of the Drum Tower, Beijing and a project website. The travel office offered four different tours of an alternative United States, each led by an activist-researcher or US origins: new media artist Ryan Griffis, artist and author Sarah Kanouse, artist Trevor Paglen, and “Wildman” Steve Brill.
